The Newman Club
Newman Conversations occur during the lunch time throughout the academic terms on Tuesdays either in the Cage or an assigned room. The speakers in the past have been administrators and professors who spoke on topics that were current for students and society in general. Those who come bring their lunch and eat during the 15 or 20 minute presentation. A discussion follows with time to answer questions. The speakers, topics, dates and places for Fall 1999 are TBA in September.
Newman Video discussions consist of short videos on any topic of faith that you may be interested in viewing. The videos are seen on Tuesdays with lunch. A discussion follows. This is an easy way to become acquainted with your faith. If you are interested, please tell or e-mail one of the resource persons. After a video has been selected the date, time and place will be announced.
Newman meetings may take place on Thursday in the Frick Center Cafeteria, Frick Center Founder's Lounge or in any assigned room during lunch or the protected hour. Evening meetings may be scheduled at the convenience of everyone. The membership determines meeting times and places. The meeting can be a planning session, a fun time, volunteering, or completion of ongoing activities.
Ash Wednesday Services are offered yearly. You are encouraged to attend to prepare yourself during lent for the greatest feast in the liturgical year ... EASTER! Check fliers and school newspapers fore the time and place.
The membership of Newman may volunteer their time and gifts for the service of others any time of the year not only during Spring Break The volunteering may be short term like a day, weekend or longer. It may be near by, a short distance from EC like Bensenville or Chicago or far away.
