The Internet is becoming increasingly popular in our society and can be an excellent tool in your career development process. Why should you be using this medium?

Networking: this is the world’s largest network! You can sit in your living room and connect with people on the other side of the world.
Access to current information: there is no quicker way to obtain accurate information.
Availability: if you have a computer with Internet capabilities or know someone who does, you can use the Internet any time of day, any day of the week.
Effectiveness and Efficiency: it would take you many hours in a library or on a telephone or driving in your car to gather the information you can accumulate on the Internet in minutes.

If you don’t know how to use the Internet, the time to learn is now! Sign up for a workshop or ask a friend or family member to show you. Once you understand "the basics," using the Internet is all about exploring. Use your imagination and creativity to gather information-- there is more information on the World Wide Web than we can ever understand. It’s all at your fingertips! If you don’t have Internet access at home, there are computers with Internet access available at the Career Services Office or the Elmhurst College library. There is no charge for students and alumni.

By using resource books about the Internet (check the Career Services library), using the Internet Yellow Pages, or utilizing a search engine such as Yahoo (www.yahoo.com).
