Major in Geography with Secondary Education/Social Studies Certification
 Geography majors who seek certification in secondary education must take GEO 440 Teaching Geography in the Secondary School. In addition, students must also complete courses in broad-field social studies and a standards-based portfolio. See the Department of Education for a complete listing of broad field courses. See the geography department chair for specific course requirements.

Students who plan to complete their certification in secondary education should identify themselves to both the Department of Education and the Department of Geography & Geosciences and confer periodically with advisors in both departments.
