The Center for Business and Economics is dedicated to preparing its students for successful careers in a global economy characterized by change, complex issues and ambiguity. A key belief underlying the Center's programs is that success in business generally depends on: specialized skills; awareness and understanding beyond a field of specialization; plus such personal attributes as leadership skills, adaptability, healthy self-esteem, competency in problem solving and the ability to communicate effectively.

The Center affords the opportunity for each student to develop these skills, perspectives and personal attributes, recognizing that students come to the program with differing needs and expectations. The Center draws on the liberal arts heritage and resources of Elmhurst College to fulfill its mission. The Center maintains close ties with the business community to ensure that its programs are viable and relevant in a dynamic business environment.
